Yes, please do Alan. I read 1 Enoch this summer and it's a very interesting read. I can't say that I agree with everything in it, but it's definitely enlightening considering that scholars think it was written 400 years prior to Christ.

I have not read form Enoch. I have read from several apocryphal books, but I have not read from any books, such as Enoch, from the Psuedepigrapha, which are considered another step below the apocrypha in reliability. However, I do believe that what's true is true no matter where you find it, so I'll have to check it out.

Great post Alan!

Our relationship with God is intimate. He's doing it because he loves us. Think of a relationship that you have where you entirely love the other person. Do you want them to do good? Do you want to help them succeed in what they do? Do you want them to be happy? God wants the same for us too.

Every story and event that is laid out in the bible directs us to think about our relationships this way. God has been trying to teach us and guide us (his creation) since he first created us. And that's not just limited to the commandments. It encompasses EVERYTHING.

As an aside, I'd also like to say something on the subject of the "solar-centric" fact of the universe: if you've read First Enoch, you'll know that God even revealed THAT profound truth before some guy named Copernicus came along. How awesome is that?!?
